MULLER'S CASTLE

I received E-Mail that said:

I see that you have listed two of the three castles in Sullivan County, New York. You have the Dundas Castle at Craig-e-Clare, and the Hillig Castle in Liberty, but not the Muller Castle in Monticello. It was magnificent at one time and the daughter of the family that built it married Frank Morgan, the actor who played the Wizard in the Wizard of Oz. I believe it is currently an unused part of a summer bungalow colony.

I know there are photos of how it looked in its heyday out there somewhere; I will try to find one for you and I will ry to get a digital photo of how it looks today (boarded up).

I'm not sure this is quite what I think of as a castle, it would be nice if someone would restore it though so we could see what it would look like in good condition.

Later, I received E-Mail that said:

Want to let you know Muller's Castle in Monticello, NY was indeed part of a bungalow colony. From 1955-1968, I spent my childhood summers there. Up until 1958, the bungalow colony was named Lazar's Castle. From 1958 up until the mid 1970s, it was named Castle Country Club. After that I don't know who owned it. During my summers there, families did reside in the castle and also in the many bungalowes. it was a wonderful place to spend summers, especially childhood summers.
