UNKNOWN CASTLE

I received E-Mail that said:

Homes and Land real estate magazine ran this on its front cover about mid September,’02. It is apparently made from granite ballast stones from San Francisco and brought down to Redwood City and built in the mid 1980s. It looks like it might qualify as a Castle to me.

Later, I received E-Mail that said:

Regarding the "castle" in Redwood City, I've walked by it a couple of times in my walks in the area, but I forget exactly where it is, I'm afraid.

The real estate agent does have a web page at http://www.themcrealtors.com/default.asp?zgo=100 (I have met her because she sold a friend's house, but she may not remember me.) You can probably get the address from her.

The photographer did an amazing job of making this tower look good. In person, it's kind of a grim gray, and the setting--cheek by jowl with generic middle class suburban homes--would probably be a letdown to anyone hoping to encounter a charming setting.

Later, I received E-Mail that said:

I happened to run into it again today when I got lost (!). It's at the intersection of Altamont Way and Highland Avenue in Redwood City.

Here's a code snippet for a Yahoo map showing its location with a star:
