I'm orginally from nj...i moved to az about 6 years ago...in a little town called kingman az. i used to work at a place called mohave mental health...well one day 3 of my co workers were talking about a hike they took up in the Haulipai mountains...I hope i spelled that right...sorry if i didn't...they told me of their hike...they said up in the haulapai mountains of az...they said a rich man from scotland came to az, fell inlove with the land...he was building a castle to surpirse his wife...she she came over from scotland and saw az she hated it, she told him she would never live here.

The castle is suppose to be started but never finished...he stopped the building of it immy...she left him, he never saw her again..he died of a broken heart...i don't know how true or not that is...but 3 people have told me about it...i can not find any info on it anywhere...i called a couple of my neighbors which are halapai indians...and they just smiled at me...

I don't know what to believe...did you ever hear of this?

You also have "UNKNOWN CASTLE". An email about a castle outside of Kingman, AZ in the Hualapai Mountains. I think I know what that emailer was talking about; Hualapai Mansion Go to http://www.ghosttowns.com/ follow instructions and navigate to their Arizona page. Then go to Mohave County and just S.E. of Kingman on the map you will find a clickable dot titled "Hualapai Mansion". It will give the history of The Mansion, sorry no sad love story.

I don't know if this is the building that was refered to by the first message, but if so, to me, it is not a castle as I think of one. Does anyone have more information?

The “Unknown Castle” is called “Gold King Mansion” in a book titled “Arizona Backroads & 4-Wheel Drive Trails”. I visited the site in September 2004 on an ATV. It was far out in the mountains and must have been very difficult to build in that location with concrete in 1929.
